The Lake Orion Dragons girls’ swim and dive program is off to a 4-1 start in league competition, sitting in second-place in the OAA White, one game behind the Oxford Wildcats.
Showing just how strong this year’s team is, the girls soundly beat their rival, the Clarkston Wolves, by a score of 129-56 on Oct. 1.
The Wolves are in the OAA Red, one division up from the Dragons.
Looking to keep this momentum going, the girls did just that in the Oakland County Championships at Lake Orion High School on Oct. 4-5, finishing eighth among 28 schools.
Posting a team score of 108 points, the Dragons were led by sophomore Lauren Valentine’s fifth-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke and the team’s fourth-place effort in the 400-meter freestyle relay.
Freshman Paige Potter also scored points for the Dragons, finishing seventh in the 200-meter individual medley at 2:12.48.
From a team standpoint, the Farmington Hills Mercy Marlins took home the top spot with a score of 450.5. Novi (275.5), Rochester Adams (239), Birmingham Marian (188.5) and Cranbrook-Kingswood (154) rounded out the top-five.
The next league meet for the Dragons is at home on Oct. 17 vs. West Bloomfield. Currently 2-3 against league opponents, the Lakers are in sixth-place in the OAA White.
