Girls reach goal

One of the Lady Kickers’ goals for this season was not to have any tied games, and as time ran out against Birmingham Groves, both teams had scored one goal each.
Lindsey Adams crossed the ball over to Mikayla Ferer. With 2:30 left in the game, Ferer kicked it for the win, 2-1.
‘It wasn’t our best game all season,? Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Sarah Wasilk admitted. ‘We hadn’t played since Monday and it hurt us a little bit.?
The weather during the week cancelled one game and the game on May 10 left only a few days for the girls to practice.
‘It just looked like we hadn’t played for awhile. Hopefully we will clean things up in practice.?
Going into the second half the girls were behind by one point. Kaylee Liddle tied the score in the next half.
The girls played Farmington Hills Harrison o Tuesday and head to Lake Orion on Thursday.
‘They have been talking about certain games all year and I say no we will focus on the next game then when that one is done we will focus,? said Wasilk leading up to this week.
‘After last week all they can talk about is Lake Orion. It is a huge rivalry. Last year it was a close game. It was back and forth very competitive.?
The girls are ready to take the game after losing to the Dragons for the past five years and Goalie Demaree Wells is ready.
‘She usually has her best game against Lake Orion,? said Wasilk. ‘It always makes for a fin night.?
The Wolves end the week hosting Brandon High School and Youth Night on Friday.
‘They are really excited,? said Wasilk. ‘They have a dance they are going to do for the little kids. The ball kids look up to the girls and they are good with the kids.?
The girls are currently 12-1 and undefeated in the league.
‘We are looking forward to a good week of games and going into districts strong and healthy,? said Wasilk.
