Mr. Gerald D. Dingman was born April 8, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles and Dorothy Dingman and passed away January 18, 2023 in Spring Lake, Michigan
Gerald was an amazing Father and Papa. He is survived by his wife Marlene Dingman; sons Tony Dingman and Carrie Hill, Vince and Brenda Dingman; grandchildren Anna Dingman, Claire and Phillip Bellinger, Courtney Dingman, Megan and Regina Robinson; and great grandson, Phillip Bellinger.
He is also survived by his three sisters; his twin, Jean (Frank) Amedure, Diane Dingman (Michael DeCrescenza) and Patti (Larell) Smith.
Gerald was preceded in death by his four brothers and one sister, Albert (Kathy) Dingman, Glen Dingman, Kenneth (Mary) Dingman, Earl (Phyllis) Lambert and Carol Criley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gerald loved to boat, fish and hunt – especially living in Lake Orion, Michigan. His family and friends have countless memories of spending time with him boating, or just having long conversations with a cold one.
His love for Marlene was unconditional as over the last 10 years he spent most of his time caring for Marlene’s needs. Some of his last words: “Make sure you take care of Mom.”
Gerald served our country in the US Army and had a long, successful career in the automotive industry and retired from General Motors. He shared his passion for cars with his sons Tony and Vince. He also held his barber license and frequently cut hair for his children and friends.
Gerald was extremely proud of his family, as his home was filled with family pictures. Gerald and Marlene loved watching football games on TV, always rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and waving the “Terrible Towel.”
Gerald will be remembered as a generous father and friend to many and as a caring, understanding and loving father and grandfather.
Cheers to you Dad! We will forever love you.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, 111 East Flint Street. Lake Orion, MI 48362. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
In memory of Gerald, memorial donations may be made to the Orion Veterans Memorial.
