First LO girls’ lax season a success despite playoff loss

The inaugural girls? lacrosse at Lake Orion ended with a 13-6 loss to Huron Valley in regional semi-finals action last Tuesday at Waterford Mott.
Chelsey Booth scored three goals, Sam Bonkowski scored twice and Taylor Hammerl added another for the Dragons. Lindsay Butterfield stopped 13 Huron Valley shots on goal.
‘The future is very promising for LOHS girls lacrosse,? said Coach Bill Booth. ‘We are losing just seven seniors from the 39 girls who played varsity and JV during’our inaugural season.?
Booth said many of the returning players are already signed up for a three-day summer camp and an indoor league in Auburn Hills.
The varsity squad finished their first season with four wins and a pair of ties.
‘The players, parents and LOHS athletic department have been very committed to our success this year and beyond,? Booth said. ‘Coach Debbie (Booth) and I are extremely excited about 2009.?
The team will host a fundraiser on Tuesday, June 10 from 5-8 PM at Big Boy on Baldwin Road near I-75. The lacrosse players will be ‘celebrity servers? for all customers and the restaurant is donating a percentage of the food sales to the program.
