‘Change? has recently been the word of the day around the office of Dr. Charles F. Munk and Dr. Charles W. Munk.
Over the past year, Clarkston’s two most dedicated orthodontists have added new technology to their practice, opened a new office in the Davison area and sent themselves back to school.
‘We want to make sure that with every patient we are creating a healthy environment for the teeth, joint and musculature,? said Dr. Munk. ‘We use the latest equipment available to do this in the best way possible.?
One of the latest orthodontic technological advances is the use of self-ligating, ‘Breakthrough Brackets? and ‘space-age? wires for teeth straightening. According to the doctors, the new appliances work with less frictional resistance which creates a more gentle, near constant force for effective tooth movement. The result is fewer appointments, greater comfort, better hygiene and a great end result.
‘We are using these brackets in conjunction with new metallurgical advances,? said Dr. Munk. He continued to explain that the wires were actually discovered through the space program, and hence the term ‘space-age.?
‘These days people have a million and one things to do. The kids are so involved, and families are constantly running here and there,? said Dr. Munk. ‘These new braces are a tremendous advantage to everyone in these very busy days. Often times, treatment can be completed with fewer appointments that require less time in the chair.?
In addition to incorporating the latest technology for tooth alignment, the office has installed new, state-of-the-art, digital x-ray equipment that greatly reduces the exposure to radiation while providing clearer, more detailed images.
‘Our diagnostic ability is greatly improved,? said Dr. Charles Munk. ‘We can now make growth predictions and find faster, more efficient treatment methods for our patients.?
The Munk team did not stop with just improving their technology inside the office. Patients now have the convenience of retrieving information right online at www.munkorthodontics.com. The website went live this past fall.
‘The website was created as a natural evolution of my son coming into the practice. He is experienced with the technology, and in this new, modern era, you have a website. It was almost automatic,? said Dr. Munk.
‘Many people research a vast majority of subjects regarding their lives on the internet now,? added Dr. Charles Munk. ‘I feel people can really see our services and what kind of office we have.?
Currently, patients can request an initial appointment online, as well as review services available at the office and view before and after treatment photos. The site is mainly informative at the moment, but the doctors hope to have it become more interactive in teh near future.
Not stopping there, the Munk team also opened a new satellite office in the Davison area this past September.
‘We have been very well received by the patients and the dental community in Davison,? said Dr. Charles. ‘There is no other orthodontist in Davison, and people seem very appreciative that we’re here to meet their needs.?
Even with all this, the two doctors still find time to continue educating themselves on the vastly changing field of orthodontics. Both doctors are currently enrolled in an intense two-year course focusing on achieving ideal occlusion and functional goals in contemporary orthodontic treatment.
Serving and educating the community also take top priority for the doctors. The office avidly supports the SCAMP program and enjoys promoting dental health throughout the entire community.
‘Our office really appreciated the opportunity to present our dental health program to Clarkston Middle School, Cedar Crest Academy and Our Lady of the Lakes,? said Patti Borsh, office manager. ‘Last fall, we were also very proud to have two of our patients use their beautiful smiles to help them become homecoming queens for Clarkston and Lake Orion high schools.?
