Dragon’s water polo team face several tough competitors

On Oct. 5 the boys water polo team headed to Chelsea for a Tournament where they took on three teams.

First up was a match against Portage that resulted in a Dragon victory 13-5.

Clarkston sophomore Adam Ehrenberger had 12 saves in the net with the help of Lake Orion senior Ben Gregg who had seven steals. LO sophomore Noah Watt, Clarkston senior Ryan Ludwa had five and four steals respectively.

Clarkston junior Owen Brown had four steals and led the team in offense with four goals. Lake Orion sophomore Nick Kadulski pitched in two goals with Kyle Manganello, Michael Pavelich, Jack Watt, Ludwa and Gregg each adding one goal to the winning effort.

Next up was a tough match-up against Saline where Lake Orion lost 10-6.

Ehrenberger was again in the net, this time with 14 saves. Dane Herrick contributed five of the six goals with Jack Watt rounding out the Dragon scoring.

In their last match of the tournament, the boys fell to Sylvania 15-11.

Jack Watt and Herrick took over the net with nine and five saves respectively.

Herrick also led in steals with five, followed by Pavelich with four and Kadulski with three.

Herrick dominated offensive play as well with five goals, Pavelich and Brown contributed two and Kadulski and Noah Watt each added one.

On Oct. 14 the Dragons took on defending state champions Okemos High School.

The boys put in a strong effort but ultimately fell 12-7.

Ehrenberger saved seven goals with the help of an aggressive Dragon defense that was lead again by Herrick with three steals and Gregg with two.

Herrick also led in scoring with three goals. Clarkston senior Jack Storey, Brown, Pavelich and Kadulski each added one goal as well.

The Dragons travel to Ann Arbor to take on the Chelsea High School Bulldogs on Tuesday after The Lake Orion Review goes to press. – M.K.
