Lake Orion High School’s Track and Field team took on Adams High School on April 7, falling to the Highlanders in a competitive meet.
For the boys, it was a hard 71 to 57 point loss. A dropped baton in the 400m relay hurt the Dragons, but they scored heavily in the sprints, throws and jumps to keep the meet close.
Senior Drew Knieper, junior Jonah Fix, and Freshman Nick Eaton swept the discus throw.
Junior Joey Owczarek led a Dragon sweep in the long jump, along with sophomore Caleb Jones and junior Dwyvae Morgan.
In the 100m dash, juniors T. Brown and Jeremy Parks took first and second place. T. Brown also won the 200m dash, (with junior Joey Thede second), and was on the winning 800m relay, with Joey Thede, Raymond Payneand junior Josh Trudell.
For the girls, the 83 to 44 loss was a good opener for a very young squad.
Senior captain Sophie Novak won her two events, the 1600m and 800m runs, convincingly.
Senior Cate Leonhard won the high jump and was third in the 100m hurdles. and long jump. Junior Alayna Tisch won the 100m dash, the 300m hurdles and was on the winning 400m relay, along with, junior Natallie Keogh, Cate Leonhard and sophomore Ella Spears.
Freshman Lexie Strohschein won the Discus. S.F.
