The Lake Orion High School wrestling team had their season opening dual meet at home Dec. 11 against Macomb Dakota and Waterford Kettering.
Although the team did not have a victory, many individual wrestlers came away with two wins. Juniors Anthony Vellucci and Dominic Orselli and senior Issac Kinne triumphed in both their matches with Orselli recording two pins.
Two Freshman wrestlers, Dorian Hill and Judah Kinne, both got their first high school career pins.
On Saturday, the Dragons competed in the Swan Valley Team tournament going 3-2 on the day.
Lake Orion started the day in pool play facing Bullock Creek, Traverse City Central and Lakeville earning victories against all three opponents.
It included a comeback win against Lakeville, culminating in four straight pins by Orselli, Issac Kinne, Judah Kinne and senior Mason Slocum to earn the win.
Three wrestlers came away undefeated on the day: Hill, Orselli and Slocum. The team earned a third-place trophy for their efforts.
The Dragons compete in the two-day Oakland County Tournament beginning at 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, in the Lake Orion High School Fieldhouse both days.
