The Lake Orion varsity girls softball team is now 26-5 heading into district play on Saturday.
The team split a doubleheader with Romeo on May 22, losing the first game 5-1. Jada Lopez had two hits. Ellie Britt, Rylee Limberger and Taylor Dinda each added a hit. Dinda knocked in the only run for the Dragons.
The Lady Dragons bounced back in game two for a 6-2 victory. Lauren Potter was the winning pitcher. Grace Luby led the hitting attack with three hits and three RBIs. Sydney Bell and Rylee Limberger had two hits each.
The Dragons also celebrated seniors Lauren Potter, Sophie Stironek, Taylor Dinda and Avery Case on May 22.
On Thursday, the Dragons took on Detroit Country Day for the second annual Pink Out game, winning 5-3.
Madi Eckert had two hits. Sydney Bell, Alexis Hazen, Anna Gardener and Ellie Britt each added a hit, with Britt hitting a home run off the scoreboard.
Rylee Limburger earned her 17th victory of the year, striking out eight batters.
The Dragons record stands at 26-5. Lake Orion traveled to North Branch on Tuesday for a doubleheader after Review Press time. The Dragons will head to Clio today for the final game of the regular season.
Lake Orion hosts the MHSAA District 30 softball tournament on Saturday. The team takes on Waterford Kettering at noon with the winner playing at 2 p.m. in the district championship game.
Lake Orion received an honorable mention in the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association final season rankings on May 25. – J.N.
