It was a dominant day on the track for the Lake Orion varsity track and field teams, with both the girls and boys teams soundly defeating Clarkston on April 28 at Lake Orion High School.
The girls team scored 84 points to Clarkston’s 52 points to earn the victory on their home track.
Senior Cate Leonhard continues to have a strong season, with her 100m Hurdle victory, alongside winning the long jump and placing 3rd in the high jump, head coach Stan Ford said.
Senior Sophie Novak contributed with her two wins in the 3,200 meter run and 800m run.
Sophomores Ella Spears and Cadence Teasley teamed up with juniors Natalie Keogh and Macayla Long to win both sprint relays, along with scoring in the 100m dash.
Natalie, Macayla, and Cadance then swept the 200m dash. Junior Liz Hoffman and freshmen Bella DeLong and Lexie Strohschein swept the shot put and the discus.
Freshman Sofi Sally won the 300m Hurdles, and Junior Natalie Keogh won the 200m Dash.
The boys varsity team eclipsed the Wolves by more than 50 points, winning 94-43, and won all of the relay events at the meet.
Junior Stephan Brown won the 100m and 200m dashes, and was part of two sprint relay teams.
Sophomore Luke Peardon won the 800m run and was on the winning 3,200m relay, along with junior Hong Bing Tang.
Sophomore Caleb Jones continues his fine jumping, winning the long jump. Sophomore Jeremy Parks won the high jump and was on the winning 800m and 400m relays, Ford said.
Senior Drew Knieper and junior Jonah Fix had great throws in the discus, setting personal bests along with the first two places. Senior Sean Pasek won the pole vault.
Senior Sophie Novak finishes 5th at Barnyard Elite Race
Senior Sophie Novak represented Lake Orion at the Barnyard 1600m Elite Race in Romeo on April 30, running her season best time of 4:57.77, good enough for 5th place in an elite field of the best 16 runners in the state.
Ashley/Brennen Relays
The Lake Orion boys team took first place at the Ashley/Brennan Relays at Waterford Mott on Saturday.
The Dragon boys scored 32.5 points to win the eight team, 15-event Men’s White Session, beating out second place finisher Northville by 5.5 points.
The Dragon girls scored 30 points in 15 events, placing second behind Northville (49.5 points) in the eight team Women’s White Session.
