The Downing Clinic is now in their 14th year of serving the health care needs of Clarkston and the surrounding areas.
In 2004, Laura Kovalcik, DO, Dr. Downing’s daughter, joined the practice. Dr. Kovalcik is a board-certified internist with similar training as her mother ? using natural supplements where possible and traditional medicine where that is the best solution.
This type of practice, called integrative medicine, is popular now, but Dr. Downing was a pioneer in bringing this type of medical practice to the Clarkston area in the late 1980s.
The Downing Clinic was also one of the first medical practices in the area to offer women experiencing menopause a more natural way to deal with changes. By using bioidentical hormones (long before Suzanne Somers? recent book became popular), Dr. Downing was recommending bioidentical hormones, progesterone cream, testosterone cream, herbal formulas and revised eating plans to help women experience improved wellness and vitality during menopause.
Now, both Dr. Downing and Dr. Kovalcik are helping their patients with the successful treatments established through research, scientific seminars and personal attention that The Downing Clinic is known for.
Some of the many support services The Downing Clinic their patients includes:

New to our team,Nancy Aksten joined our staff in August and will perform Electrodermal (EDS) screenings. She has over seven years experience in this area and will support Jan De Vary who has been our primary EDS specialist for over 10 years.
