Ortonville-Since 1983 David Bonner has been the name synonymous with local jewelry. Now after more than 20 years a second name and face will be part of the local proprietor in downtown Ortonville.
Rob Wittstock, has purchased a small part of D.L.Bonner Jewelers, 431 Mill St. bringing his skills and professionalism to the landmark business.
‘I just won’t be here all the time,? said Bonner. Rob is now a partner and will gradually blend into the business.?
Witstock, 29, is a resident of Washington Township near Romeo, Mich. and has worked with Bonner for more than two years.
Dave Bonner grew the business from scratch perfecting his trade from many hours of classes at the Gemological Institute of America. Established in 1931, GIA is the world’s largest nonprofit institute of gemological research and learning.
Through the years Bonner has attracted a variety of clients including some of the Detroit Tigers and retired Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler, to name a few.
While working at the jewelry store Bonner purchased several rental properties and worked to promote the downtown area of Ortonville. He is a member of the Downtown Development Authority.
