Curves is a women’s workout facility which makes exercise both fun and doable by combining aerobic exercise and strength training in a simple 30-minute workout while also providing a comfortable, friendly environment which promotes encouragement for the clientele.
Curves International now has over 10,000 locations nationwide and is the fastest-growing franchise in the world. Kim Terry, the new owner of the Ortonville Curves credits the success of the club to her staff and the existing members who help and encourage new women at the club.
Curves offers its members a fun, sociable atmosphere where they can acquire the havit of exercise and make it a part of their daily routine. The machines at Curves have no weights to stack or change and use a pulling and pushing method rather than lifting and lowering tro reduce the potential for soreness and injury.
The circuit is arranged in a large circle, upbeat music plays and every 30 seconds members are instructed to ‘change stations.? A free one-week gift certificate is available to anyone who would like to try Curves.
The Ortonville Curves holds and annual food drive every March called Food for Friends. Kim will waive the service fee for joining as a member in exchange for a full bag of groceries to donate to Ortonville Community Emergency Fund. Last year, Curves raised 2,200 pounds of groceries in one month! In addition, at Christmas, the club adopts two large families and the members purchase gifts and groceries for them.
Curves also offers weight loss classes and nutritional supplements that are designed specifically for women’s overall health and wellbeing.
When asked what their favorite thing about Curves is, members responded with answers like ‘positive atmosphere,? ‘friendly staff,? ‘quick workout,? and ‘It’s a good workout that I can do almost everyday to relieve stress and regain energy.
‘It makes me feel good to hear that people think that my club is fun and that they love my staff,? says Kim. ‘I am truly blessed. If not for my husband buying me a gift certificate I wouldn’t be here today!?
Kim tells women not to be offended if their husband buys them Curves as a gift.
‘He’s not saying that you are overweight, he’s telling you that he loves you and wants you to be healthy. Or believe me he wouldn’t venture into a women’s workout facility to make the purchase.?
‘We just want the club to be comfortable for women to come in and work out, we don’t want them to feel that their hair and makeup has to be perfect or that they have to wear designer workout clothes,? Kim continued. ‘We just want them to be themselves.?
Curves will be moving into the Oakwood Plaza in Groveland Township, no later than August of this year.
Thank you for making our move into the community a successful one.
