The Oxford Varsity competitive cheer team placed 3rd out of nine teams at their second Flint Metro League meet last Wednesday.
First round scores were 190.5, second round was 181.728 and 272 in the third round. The girls had a strong start and tied for first after the first round, but dropped to third after the second round.
‘We are improving each competition and that is all I can ask from the girls,? said coach Alanna Stockley.
On Saturday, Oxford placed 2nd out of six teams at their Fenton meet, scoring 212.5 in the first round, 187.389 in the second and 285 in the third.
‘I am extremely proud of the girls this week,? Stockley said. ‘Ultimately, our goal is to win the regional crown again.?
The team will have their third and final FML meet tonight at Linden at 6 p.m. and will have their regional competition this Saturday at Lake Orion High School at 10 a.m.
‘We want to go to states again, and the girls who have been there before know the dedication and hard work it takes to win this most important competition of the year,? Stockley said.
