Lake Orion United Methodist Church hosts its second annual Storybook Tour and Dr. Seuss birthday party to celebrate national March is Reading Month.
The Storybook Tour is a reenactment of children’s stories, with costume-clad characters reading favorite children’s stories. Children will rotate through four storybook rooms with different book readings and fun activities planned in each room.
The event coincides with Dr. Seuss’ birthday, aka Theodor Seuss Geisel, an American children’s book author, political cartoonist and animator. Geisel was born March 2, 1904. Kids will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a party at the end of the tour.
The Storybook Tour is from 1-3:30 p.m. March 21 at the church, 140 E. Flint St. in downtown Lake Orion, and is a fundraiser for Orion Area Youth Assistance programs, like skill building scholarships, the summer camp scholarship fund, Family Fun Night and Youth Awards Recognition.
Cost is $12 per person (including adults.) Children need to be supervised by a parent or guardian. Limited is space available and registration is open until March 18.
