The Oxford Wildcats finished their regular season with a loss, 49-14, to Oak Park in the OAA crossover game on Friday.
In the opening round of the state playoffs scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Oxford will face a scary Halloween foe, the number one ranked and undefeated Clarkston Wolves.
The Wildcats finished their regular season in third place in the OAA Red Division with a 6-3 record.
In the Oak Park matchup, the Wildcats came out slinging with quarterback Glacier Wallington connecting on his longest pass completion of the year, an 81-yard score to Adam Schlicht at 8:29 of the first quarter.
Oak Park then tied the score five minutes later. Oxford again came back in the opening quarter, scoring on a 21-yard run by Scott Stubenrauch to reclaim the lead with 3:48 left in the first quarter.
It was Oak Park all the way after that, scoring 28 more points before halftime to take a 42-14 lead.
Two of the Knights? touchdowns were set up following interceptions. .
Oak Park added a final score in the fourth quarter while the Knights? defense kept the Wildcats at bay following the two scores in the first quarter.
Oxford finished with only 210 yards of offense, which included 117 yards passing by Wallington on 6-for-11 accuracy.
Schlicht had two catches for 95 yards. Stubenrauch had 17 carries for 61 yards.
On Halloween night, Oxford travels to Clarkston to face the fearsome Wolves. Clarkston is the defending Division 1 state champion and is undefeated this season at 9-0, winning the OAA Red Division title.
Earlier in the season, Clarkston came to Wildcat stadium and beat Oxford, 42-14, on homecoming night.
