Oakand County Sheriff deputies are currently investigating a breaking and entering that occurred on June 13.
A Burger King employee arrived to work at 4:45 a.m. and walked to the rear of the building to change the menu sign at the drive-thru.
After hearing a noise come from the back door, he discovered it was propped open with a broom handle and food items were stacked outside.
The employee entered the building and called deputies when he noticed the safe in the main office was open and empty.
Deputy Ostrander checked the building and found no sign of forced entry. He also checked the safe and found no sign of tampering or damage and nothing else out of place.
The night shift manager stated she locked the safe at the end of her shift at 4 a.m. and secured the building. Then, she gave a employee a ride home.
A K-9 unit was brought to the scene and a track was attempted, but yielded negative results. The crime lab checked for finger prints and also had no results and photos were taken.
The manager confirmed $596.14 was missing and stated at the time of the burglary, the building was not equipped with an alarm or video surveillance.
