Brandon Vision Center, local vision care

During his travels, Dr. Andres Lamberia noticed there was a void in Brandon and Goodrich which needed to be filled.
‘I saw there was a need for eye care,? he said. ‘I live in Davison and have talked to people who have said there wasn’t eye care available. It seemed like a growing community, and I decided to open here.?
Now in its second year, the Brandon Vision Center, located on 875 M-15 in Ortonville, continues to expand its patient base as well as its product base.
Lambaria operates the center along with office manager Stephanie Fowler. The center also recently added a new employee, optician Diane Humbach.
He talked about some of the services offered at Brandon Vision.
‘We have a lot of new designer frames,? he said. ‘We have an on-site lab where we can make glasses here. We do exams for all ages, including children. We also have a digital retinal camera that takes photos of the retina inside the eye.?
Some of the new lines of frames available at Brandon Vision include Polo, Nine West, and Flex-ons (for kids and adults).
In addition, Lambaria said Brandon Vision has made a concerted effort to stay involved in the community.
He said Fowler will visit the Brandon Senior Center in the near future to repair glasses for seniors. Brandon Vision has also provided exams and discounted glasses for members of the Brandon Lions Club, and the staff visited the Career Fair at Harvey-Swanson Elementary School in Brandon Township.
A program that is unique to Brandon Vision is the Share the Care program, which benefits those patients who refer others to the center.
‘For every patient that is referred to us, the person that made the referral will receive 10 percent off their next pair of glasses,? Lambaria said.
Lambaria said he first became interested in optometry at the age of 9. He recalled a childhood experience which still impacts him today.
‘A group of opthamologists from Flint went on a medical mission to Honduras,? he said. ‘There was a patient there with two detached retinas. He couldn’t be operated on there, so they brought him back to the U.S. My family is Spanish-speaking, so we volunteered to let him stay with us while he was here. He still sends us Christmas cards each year.?
Lambaria obtains his optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. While in school, Lambaria traveled to South Africa to see 2,000 patients.
He is pleased with how Brandon Vision has established itself in the community to date.
‘We’re really happy to have opened an optical in this area,? he said. ‘We expect it to continue to grow quickly.
