The visiting Brandon basketball squad could never quite get untracked against Saginaw Heritage Jan. 20.
Heritage had command of the game from the onset and defeated the Blackhawks 59-43. With the loss, Brandon’s overall record fell to 3-6, while Hertiage improved to 6-3.
Joe Turcsak scored 13 points to lead the Blackhawks, while Gjon Nicaj added 10 and Tom Schaefer nine.
Heritage led 18-10 after the first quarter and held a commanding 34-21 lead at the half.
The Blackhawks had better luck in Flint Metro League competition against visiting Oxford Friday, Jan. 16.
Brandon answered a first-quarter Oxford assault with a second-quarter surge of their own on their way to a 51-36 win, improving to 2-2 in the league.
Turcsak led the Blackhawks with 14 points, while Schaefer scored 12 points, including 3-of-4 from the free throw line.
Bryan Mattack led the Wildcats with 12 points.
The Blackhawks travel to Flint Northern Tuesday, Jan. 27 for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
