The Lake Orion Varsity Boys Water Polo team faced tough opposition from Grand Blanc High School on Wednesday, losing 19-7.
Clarkston junior goalie Adam Ehrenberger was strong in the net, with eight saves.
Clarkston players senior Ryan Ludwa and junior Owen Brown, along with Lake Orion junior Kyle Manganello added to the defense, each with a blocked shot on goal.
Clarkston does not have a boys water polo team, so Clarkston players are allowed to play on Lake Orion’s team.
The Dragon offense was led by Lake Orion juniors Dane Herrick and Michael Pavelich, each scoring two goals. Adding goals were Lake Orion sophomore Noah Watt, Brown and Ludwa.
Lake Orion juniors Jacob Potter and Manganello, senior Ben Gregg, sophomore Jack Watt and Ehrenberger each got assists in the game.
The Dragons hosted Walled Lake on Tuesday after Lake Orion Review press time.
The water polo team’s next home game is 6 p.m. Sept. 24 against Chelsea in the high school natatorium.
Junior varsity
The Junior Varsity Dragons lost to Grand Blanc, 14-10, with a strong showing in net by Lake Orion junior Jacob Potter, who had 10 saves.
The Dragon offense put pressure on the Bobcats, with Michael Pavelich and Lake Orion eighth-grader Caeden Stauss each putting three goals on the board. They were supported by Lake Orion sophomore Nick Kadulski with two goals and sophomore Jack Watt and Clarkston freshman Richie Majewski each adding one.
Potter, Kadulski and Clarkston senior Jack Story each added two assists and Pavelich had one assist. – K.P.
