Boys varsity lacrosse coach Brad Thomas has succesfully gotten his team off to a strong lead with a 3-0 record.
With 3 games down, Coach Thomas feels that the boys have performed well on defense and have been efficient offensively.
“This team is a hard-working group of young men and are a joy to be around. They play hard and with a lot of pride for this school and community,” said Thomas.
The coach does not utilize the traditional “captain” designation for his team — instead, he puts the senior class players into leadership roles.
Improving their specialty part of the game is a goal of Coach Thomas’ and he says that the boys are coming along slowly.
“We are working hard to compete and improve everyday in practice. Our senior class has provided great leadership and will be relied upon to carry a heavy load for us this season.”
Returning All-State and All-Region performers on the 2017 team are Chris French, Eric Dietz, Drew Hubbard, Jared Gies, Tommy Finneran, Cam Dutton and Peyton Gasche.
The team will be working hard to defend the OAA Red title that they won last season.
The team is looking forward to their “Game for a Cause” fundraiser on May 6. This is a day-long event that raises money for the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund. The fundraiser involves not only the junior varsity and varsity teams, but it also includes all the youth lacrosse programs.
April 13 will be the next home game verse Birmingham United at 7 p.m., followed by an away game at Troy High School on April 18 at 7 p.m.
