The Lake Orion boys varsity cross country team has notched two impressive wins in the past week, first by winning on their home course on Tuesday and then taking the top spot at the Holly races on Saturday.
On Sept. 14, the team won the OAA Red Jamboree 1 with the low score of 17 points, beating Oxford, Rochester Adams, Clarkston, Troy and Birmingham Seaholm.
With the win, the team has secured 50 percent of the league title, head coach Stan Ford said.
The Dragons swept the first four places, with Adam Hafeli coming in 1st, Hong Bing Tang, 2nd, Clayton Kuiper, 3rd, and Will Houvener, 4th.
Luke Peardon’s 7th place finish completed the Dragon scoring. Eddie Cromwell and Ronnie Leonard round out the varsity squad and had strong performances.
At the Holly/Duane Raffin Festival of Races on Saturday, the Dragons took first place with 62 points, competing against 20 other schools. Pickney High School finished second with 109 points and Plymouth was third with 121 points.
The Dragons had five runners in the top 27, all earning individual medals. This time Hong Bing Tang was Lake Orion’s leading runner, taking sixth place with a season best time of 16:21.6. Adam Hafeli finished in seventh place, Clayton Kuiper was eighth, Will Houvener was 14th and Luke Peardon rounded out the Dragon’s scoring with a 27th place finish.
