The Oxford Varsity boys and girls bowling teams both lost their first meet of the season against Walled Lake Western last Sunday.
The boys lost 141-160 and 169-182 due to missing too many easy spares during the Baker games.
In regular play, the Western boys also proved to be very tough, winning four out of the first five matches.
Oxford senior Tyler Heichel was the only winner with a 196 game.
Other bowlers who performed well during game one was sophomore Michael Magyar (213), junior Steven Lafnear (181), junior James Roberts (192). In game two, senior Ben Griggs (181), Brandon Burgess (211) and Tyler Heichel (210).
They are now 0-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference (NLC).
The girls? team showed improvement, but still fell short of a win.
Junior Ashlee High (183/153) and sophomore Kelly Cartner (154/151) were the only lady bowlers to win points. Junior Liz Laframboise (153) and junior Dayna Rein (142) also bowled nice games.
The team came out strong winning both Baker games, but faltered in regular play. They are now 0-1 in the NLC.
The next bowling match will be this Saturday at Collier Lanes for the Oxford Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.
