Assistant Fire Chief Bob Elizondo of the Indpendence Township Fire Department tends to a controlled burn on Feb. 10 of a building on property on Dixie Highway just south of I-75 which the fire department is using for training. The burning of the building allows utility wires to be moved a safe distance from a barn and house on the property which, with the poles out of harm’s way, will eventually be set on fire and controlled in training exercises.
