Big kids, little kids and kids at heart, load up the family for an unforgettable experience, Orion Township Parks and Recreation says.
They will be hosting the annual Big Rig Gig this Friday from 5-9 p.m. at Friendship Park. Admission into the event is $5 per vehicle.
Last year’s event drew over 3,000 attendees, and Recreation Program Supervisor Jennifer Vezina is expecting even more this year.
‘We have much of the old favorites, but its bigger and better than ever,? she said.
In addition to dozens of trucks, tractors, diggers, dozers, buckets and back-loaders (and much more), Vezina said they’ve added even more.
‘This year’s event will be the best yet with Jaws of Life Demonstration, Michigan Sate Police Dog and Smash the Junker being added to the event,? she said.
Vezina credited Buckhorn Towing for supplying the vehicle that will be used in the Jaws of Life demonstration, which will also be used to raise money for the Darci Seipke Benefit Fund. For a fee, attendees can ‘smash the junker? by taking a swing at the car.
According to Vezina, the first 1,000 kids to enter the park will receive a free construction hat. She promises the supply will go quickly and urges visitors to arrive early.
Since participants might build up a hunger after taking a swing at the ‘junker? and exploring all of the cool machinery, Vezina said Paesano’s will be selling pizza.
