Brandon High School’s equestrian team is gearing up for another season of competition.
Coach Kathy Stockley has set up a sign-up meeting at her home Wednesday, July 14 at 7 p.m. The meeting will last until around 8:30 p.m.
Those students who will be attending Brandon High School in August or live in Brandon Township ? even if they attend a private school or are home schooled ? may participate on the team.
Stockley said there were about 10 girls on last year’s team, which is just below the average of 11-13 that she said typically signs up for the squad.
She also said the team members dedicate themselves nonstop to perfecting their craft.
‘Most of the girls show on different circuits all year long,? Stockley said. ‘They usually practice a couple times per week and take lessons with their trainers.?
The team will compete against other high schools in district action in September. Those teams qualifying will compete against each other at the state competition in October.
