Goodrich High School 2010 graduate Brittany Bertrand, an Adrian College softball player, was recently named to the First Team All-MIAA.
The third baseman, who plays for the school on a scholarship, earned the honor along with two of her older teammates. Bertrand leads the MIAA conference with a batting average of .456 and placed second with her on-base percentage of .529. She also had fifth in the conference in hits with 20 and fourth in total bases earned with 28. Her first season at Adrian has proven to be just, if not more, successful as her softball career in high school.
The GHS softball standout made first Team All-Conference her sophomore, junior, and senior years as well as First Team All-District her junior and senior years.
While she has already surpassed her accomplishments at Goodrich by making the First Team All-MIAA her freshman year in college, she believes that what she achieved in high school aided her in her first season playing for Adrian.
‘This season was great even though we lost the conference title to Alma. We went undefeated the first 26 games and only had seven losses overall,? said Bertrand.
Adrian College is part of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference with schools such as Alma, Hope and Kalamazoo, along with five other colleges.
