I am writing to you on behalf of Orion Art Center to express our unwavering support and highlight our partnership with the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority. The DDA has supported our 501c3 nonprofit throughout the years, and we are grateful for all of the support and creative collaborations between our two organizations.
The DDA has consistently provided platforms for the Orion Art Center through community events, including the Halloween Extravaganza, the annual Sing and Stroll Tree Lighting, Movies in the Park, Small Business Saturday promotions and other community events. These events have allowed us to further our presence in the community and continue our mission of promoting art and culture in beautiful Lake Orion. Also, by organizing these opportunities, the DDA has assisted us in reaching out to the community and emphasizing the importance of art in daily life.
The DDA was instrumental in creating the Lake Orion Flower Fair. The fair, now Called Art and Flower Fair, was passed to Orion Art Center and currently serves as an important fundraiser for our organization. Without the DDA’s vision for this fun and creative community event, we would not receive significant funding.
Art and Flower Fair, which takes place each May, has become a vibrant, family-friendly gathering. This event enhances the beauty of our downtown area and attracts visitors from near and far, boosting the local economy.
We appreciate the DDA’s role in supporting local nonprofits and hope to continue our collaborative efforts. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Lake Orion DDA and urge you to vote no on the Nov. 7 ballot proposal to defund the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority.
