Lake Orion High School will hold their second annual Career Day during the school day on May 28.
Eleventh grade students will have the opportunity to job shadow a professional in their potential career paths in order to help them further explore their interest.
Students will be paired with a mentor in the field of their choice for the day where they will attend meetings or appointments and ask questions about the field, including necessary job skills and education requirements.
“The purpose behind job shadowing is to really help our Lake Orion students explore a field of interest while developing research skills and build occupational knowledge before going on to the post-secondary level,” said K-12 Career Readiness Coordinator, Rosa Everitt. “Helping our youth is really about making those connections between the knowledge they have gained in school and the workplace, while making the best career choice for themselves.”
LOHS is asking that mentors host 2-3 students at their place of work, show them the scope of their career and allow them to get an idea of what that career is like in the real world.
Anyone interested in being a mentor, or anyone who would like additional information about the program, can contact Everitt at Rosa.Everitt@lok12.org. — By Megan Kelley
