Allen Thure Wickman Sr. of Cumming, GA, formerly of Pontiac, MI, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2022. He was 88 years old.
Allen was the beloved son of the late Thure and Lillian (the late Edward Kreutzfeld) Wickman; beloved husband of Jeanette Biehl Wickman and the late Shirley Vallad Wickman; loving father of Renee (Dave) Rowe, Sheree (Russell) Cook, Jeff (Amanda) Wickman, the late Cindy (Paul) Marshall, the late Allen Thure (Nancy) Wickman Jr. and the late Lannette (Dan) Weber.
He is the step father-in-law of Scott (Stacy) Biehl; Laurie (Tom) Simmons; grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 22; brother of Nancy Wickman (Doug) Wuggazer and the late Greta Wickman (late Wayne) Clack, brother-in-law Alfred (Janet) Vallad, sisters-in-law the late Beverly Vallad (the late Ron) Betts, and the late Bonnie Vallad (the late Jerry) Wheeler.
Allen grew up in Gingellville, MI, graduating from Lake Orion High School where he was a three-sport athlete.
Allen married his junior high and high school sweetheart, Shirley Vallad, and upon graduating from The Radio & Electronics Institute of Technology in Detroit he spent 45 years working at IBM and living in Rochester, MN, Endicott, NY, Rochester, MI, Pontiac, MI, Tallahassee, FL, Tampa, FL, and Cumming, GA. Allen’s career at IBM saw him recognized with countless awards for exceptional performance, including multiple IBM Means Service Awards and a Division President’s Award.
Allen and Shirley enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Later, upon Shirley’s passing, Allen married Jeanette Biehl in Cumming, GA where they enjoyed the remainder of their years.
When Allen wasn’t traveling you could find him at any of a number of his grandchildren’s or great-grandchildren’s extra-curricular activities. Allen was a true family man to his core, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and, above all else, a kind-hearted gentleman.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell Rd., Orion. The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 4 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment is at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
