Simon Lynch passed away on December 20, 2023 after a year-long battle with cancer.
He will be remembered for his determination, caring, and love of family, friends and fitness. Simon is remembered with love by his wife, Lori (Craddick) and his son, Sean; his parents, Pam (Cargill) Lynch and Terry Lynch who will keep his memory close; his sister, Nicky Cox and her husband Chris, loving parents to nephews Oliver and Joshua; his brother, Adrian Lynch, loving parent to nephew Will and niece Jessica; sister-in-law and fishing buddies, Jenn Rynkiewicz and her husband Tom; his mother-in-law, Marty Craddick, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from all over the world.
Simon, born 1969 in London, England, moved to Michigan in 1994 for a job with Lucas Hartridge. Over his 35 years with the same company, he traveled to just about every part of the world. He made many professional and personal relationships that were celebrated at his retirement in 2021.
In his retirement years he took up homebrewing and was quite good at it. Simon was a fervent Liverpool FC and Detroit City FC supporter. Simon was devoted to keeping fit and played football (soccer) from a young age all the way through rec leagues into his 40s. He spent lots of trips mountain climbing with friends in his teen years, and competed in many running and biking races over the years, including the Detroit Marathon, Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Lumberjack 100 and Marji Gesick. When Sean found an interest in mountain biking, Simon was fortunate to be able to coach on the Lake Orion Cycling Team where he was known to inspire a few young racers and hone his bike maintenance skills. He was also an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish, spending a good portion of his time at his hunting property. Some might say that Simon got more out of his short 54 years than most get out of 100.
Simon requested that no formal service be held, however a celebration of life is being planned. Arrangements in care of Modetz Funeral Home in Orion Township.
