Michael Leroy Mahan of Lake Orion passed away on March 21, 2023 at home, lovingly surrounded by his family members. He was 61 years old.
Michael is survived by his son Casey (Kiara Brown) Mahan, his daughter Shantae (Parker Lovell) Mahan and his step-children Brandi Banks, Shannon (Mitch) Fransted and Robert (Becky) Moss; his six grandchildren Charlotte, Kaden, Colten, Noah, Hazel and Wyatt; his siblings John (Ligia) Mahan, the late James (Yvonne) Mahan, Brenda (Rick) Hamilton, Robert (Cindy) Mahan, Richard (Kim) Mahan and Rhonda (Bart) Robinson.
He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Rose Mary and Leroy Mahan of Lake Orion.
Michael was born in Lapeer, Michigan but Lake Orion was home to him where he spent his childhood and graduated from LOHS. He continued to spend his adult life in the same community where he was raised. He was active in the Lake Orion community and he worked in automotive engineering.
Michael has had several passions throughout his life. He played baseball and softball where he made many childhood and lifelong friends participating in local leagues and invitationals. He loved shooting pool and enjoyed playing corn hole at the Lake Orion Chapter of the American Legion, of which he was a member.
Michael literally and truly lit up the sky. He was involved for many years in the Lake Orion Community Fourth of July Fireworks Display.
He also did private parties and special events where he delighted family, friends, neighbors and clients with his colorful and professional displays. He dazzled many a crowd and loved hearing the ooo’s and awe’s of the spectators.
There will be a private family burial with a “Celebration of His Life” to be announced at a later date for family and friends to gather and share fond and loving memories of a man who will be well remembered.
