The Lake Orion Village Council unanimously approved Change Order no. 3 to the village’s water main replacement project for phases one and two during their meeting on March 13.
The approved change order reduced the cost of the two phases of the project by $86,813.23, bringing the total to $5,347,788.48. Before this change order, the cost was $5,434,601.71.
“I know that our engineer (Carol Thurber) engaged in a lot of work to sort out all of those items and to be able to prepare the balancing change order. We actually at one point anticipated that the project was going to be going over by the amended contract amount and as it turns out, it’s a considerable reduction,” said village Manager Darwin McClary.
There is currently no timetable for when the village will continue with phases three and four of the water main replacement project. — M.K.
