Candy donations, volunteers welcomed
The Lake Orion-Oxford area special needs annual Easter egg hunt is from 2-4 p.m. April 1 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 21 E. Burdick St.
Candy and/or goody donations are definitely needed, said Mary Vellucci, organizer of the event and founder of the non-profit AU (Awesome & Unique) Special Needs Foundation, serving the special needs community in north Oakland County.
Anyone who would like to contribute can drop off donations in bins at New Ends Hair Salon, Northern Flooring & Interiors Wholesale, LO/Oxford Fraternal Order of Eagles, Green Hippo Gifts, Lava Mountain Coffee or Funky Monkey Toys.
The AU Foundation also needs volunteers before, during or after the event to help with setup, helping make sure the party runs smoothly and cleanup afterward. Volunteers can text Vellucci at 248-982-3580.
The annual AU Easter celebration includes pictures with the Easter bunny, a performance by a magician, face painting, games, prizes, food, the Easter egg hunt and friendship, Vellucci said. – J.N.
