Deputies, firefighters aid in possible overdose cases at gas station

Sheriff’s deputies and Orion Twp. firefighters got a call to go to Speedway, 1030 S. Lapeer Rd., at 4:16 a.m. Feb. 14 for an individual who was choking and turning purple.

Upon arrival, deputies located the 48-year-old Metamora resident and administered Naloxone.

Deputies began CPR and the victim began to breath. Orion Twp. firefighters arrived and took over medical care.

Another customer told deputies that a man was passed out in a truck in the parking lot. Deputies spoke to the 43-year-old Waterford Township man, and a Law Enforcement Information Network check revealed that he had multiple outstanding misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

Deputies took the man into custody without incident.

Son attacks mother with a saw

A Orion Twp. woman, 46, went into the Orion Twp. sheriff’s office substation at 2:04 p.m. Feb. 14 to file a domestic assault complaint.

The victim said that on Feb. 7 she was driving with her 17-year-old son discussing family matters and arrived at their home.

Once they were in the driveway, the son grabbed a saw and attacked the woman.

They struggled for a few minutes, then the woman pushed the car horn and a 49-year-old resident came out of the home and together they managed to get the suspect under control.

The suspect is currently in a hospital getting treatment for mental health problems. All information was turned over to detectives.

Deputies have license plate of thief who loaded a cart at Home Depot

Home Depot, 2600 S Lapeer Rd., loss prevention employees called deputies at 11:36 a.m. Feb. 16 after a man loaded a shopping cart with $349 worth of merchandise and immediately exited the store.

The man left the parking lot in a silver Pontiac Grand Prix.

Deputies were able to get a license plate number and detectives are continuing the investigation.

Drunk driver takes out road signs

An Orion Twp. man, 46, was taken to jail after taking out several road signs on Lapeer Road shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday.

Deputies went to the area of Lapeer and Casemer roads for a vehicle accident and saw that several street signs had been hit.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident exited his vehicle and stumbled toward deputies, who could then smell a strong odor of intoxicants from the driver.

The driver was given a preliminary breath test where he blew a .165 BAC, more than twice the legal limit for drunk driving in Michigan.

The driver was then taken to a local hospital for a blood draw and then to the Oakland County Jail where he was released in the morning.

Charges are pending the lab results.

Woman saved from overdose

Deputies went to the 3800 block of Joslyn Road at 7:46 p.m. Feb 19 for a report of a woman hanging out of a car and not responding to her surroundings

Deputies gave the 33-year-old Alpena resident Narcan and continued medical treatment until Orion Twp. firefighters arrived to continue medical care.

The victim was transported to McLaren Hospital for treatment.

Food run ends in crash on M-24

Lake Orion police responded to a crash on M-24 at Smith Court at 9:18 p.m. Feb. 14 when a vehicle making a left turn out of Wendy’s to go northbound was struck by a southbound vehicle.

There were no injuries reported.

Lying to police never ends well

A now former employee at a local business got a court date as part of his severance package last week.

Lake Orion police went to a business on S. Broadway Street at 9:40 a.m. Feb. 15 after management terminated a 36-year-old Warren man’s employment with the company.

The man, however, refused to leave the property.

He was given a misdemeanor summons to the 52-3 District Court for giving a police officer a false name.

Davison man arrested on warrant

Lake Orion police arrested a Davison man, 36, at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 15 on a warrant from the Warren Police Department.

He was taken to the Oakland County Jail to await pickup by the Warren PD.

Another accident on M-24

There were no injuries in an accident on M-24 near Heights Road at 3:08 p.m. Feb. 17 when the driver of a gray pickup truck made a left turn onto M-24 from a local business and was struck by a northbound GMC Traverse.

LOPD warrant arrest

The Richmond Police Department notified the LOPD at 3:18 p.m. Feb. 20 that they had detained an Orion Township man, 30, on a Lake Orion warrant.

The man was given court appearance information and released.
