‘New’ Heights Road is great, needs lane lines, slower drivers

Hey Neighbors,

I am writing in regard to the “NEW” Heights Road, wow, what an improvement…smooth, quiet route.

I have yet to find a neighbor who doesn’t love it. No more giant, oversized trucks or trailers rattling and banging through the ruts and potholes assaulting our ears and shaking our houses.

The problem is the road crew have to come out and put down “lane” lines. The new asphalt is wider in spots and the vehicles now believe that this wider road is all theirs and theirs alone.

People on bikes or walking are in serious danger. Retrieving my mail is taking my life in my hands.

Some of these motorists have brought out their “inner” Mario Adretti and have made this nice road a personal Grand Prix course!!

To stuff the city coffers, set out a speed trap. On weekends after 11 p.m. you’ll fill the county jail with drunks, too.

I wonder about after next year’s long hot summer when the asphalt gets soft the steady stream of overweight trucks will turn this lake road into four long toboggan chutes?

A couple speed bumps might help. Thanks for printing this.
