Son loses control, then tells on himself
Deputies responded to a 911 call in the 2000 block of Pineridge Court at 10:12 p.m. Dec. 2 for a domestic assault.
An 18-year-old son was arguing with his 48-year-old mother. It turned physical when the son pushed his mother, knocking her backwards.
The suspect then went downstairs and contacted the police.
Based upon the victim’s statements and the physical evidence, the son was placed under arrest for domestic assault. He was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending prosecutor review.
Something is not right with man who crashed his car near lake
Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on Heights near Bellevue at 5:58 p.m. Dec. 5.
Upon arrival, deputies checked the driver for injuries and ensured the scene was safe. The at fault driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Lake Orion man, 28, was unsteady on his feet and displayed signs of being under the influence. The driver submitted to a PBT (preliminary breath test) that registered .000 BAC (blood alcohol content). The man was unable to complete sobriety tests as instructed.
The driver was placed under arrest for operating while in the presence of drugs and transported to the hospital for a blood draw.
The driver was then lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending blood analysis.
Her big mouth got her in trouble
A deputy on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on Baldwin near Indianwood at 2:28 a.m. Dec. 6 for an improper turn on the roundabout.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and was making contact with the driver when the female passenger continued to interrupt and became belligerent with the deputy.
It turned out the West Bloomfield woman, 46, was a wanted person with warrants out of 48th District Court, for failure to appear on a driving while license suspended and failing to appear on a retail fraud.
The woman was placed under arrest on her warrants and turned over to West Bloomfield Police on their warrants.
The driver remained cooperative and was released at the scene.
Deputy gets stuck with used needle
Orion Township deputies were alerted to a BOL (be on lookout) for a man, 26, that had fled after assaulting his girlfriend in Springfield Township.
Orion Township deputies located the suspect at his place of work on Baldwin Road at 4:40 p.m Dec. 6 and placed him into custody.
During a search of the man, a deputy was stuck by one of two used hypodermic needles the man had in his coat that he forgot about.
Deputies also discovered suspected methamphetamine on the suspect.
The Clarkston man, 26, was lodged at the Oakland County Jail for domestic assault and possession of methamphetamine pending lab analysis.
The suspect agreed to a blood test to assess the deputy’s exposure to disease after the needle penetrated his protective gloves.
This incident is pending analysis of the suspected methamphetamine.
Drinking & driving leads to crash
Deputies responded to Baldwin & Barn Meadow roads at 6:43 p.m. Dec. 6 for a traffic crash.
While investigating the incident, deputies smelled alcohol intoxicants from the at fault driver’s breath.
The Clarkston woman, 63, was unable to complete sobriety tests as instructed. She provided a .146 BAC on a PBT.
The woman was placed under arrest for OWI (operating while intoxicated) and transported to the hospital for a blood draw and subsequently lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending blood analysis.
No injuries were reported.
Vehicle reported driving in wrong direction on M-24
Deputies were dispatched to the area of Lapeer and Silverbell roads at 4:35 a.m. Dec. 8 for a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes.
Deputies immediately located the vehicle near Home Depot and safely stopped it
When deputies made contact with the driver, an Almont woman, 44, it was obvious that she had been drinking. She was unsteady on her feet and showed signs she had been drinking.
The driver submitted to a PBT with the results being .183 BAC.
The woman was placed under arrest for operating while intoxicated and transported to the hospital for a blood draw.
The driver was then transported to the Oakland County Jail without incident.
License plate goes missing from vehicle
Deputies were dispatched to Kroger, 460 N. Lapeer Road, at 3:48 p.m. Dec. 7 for a larceny complaint.
Deputies arrived and talked to the caller, an Oakland Twp. resident, 62, who said that they arrived at Kroger’s at approximately 3:20 p.m. When they returned to their vehicle at approximately 3:48 p.m., they noticed that the license plate had been stolen. Deputies checked the vehicle for evidence and spoke with the store manager about video of the incident.
All information and evidence collected was turned over to the detective bureau; investigation continues.
Mass has unsettling effect on area man
Deputies were dispatched to St. Joseph Church, 715 N. Lapeer Road, at 12:54 p.m. Dec. 8 for a disorderly person.
Arriving deputies learned that an Oakland Twp. man, 32, was attending mass when he started acting bizarre, talking to himself, arguing and fighting.
Several people helped to control the man, until deputies arrived.
The man was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of the police car. Once in the backseat, he began to complain of stomach pains so an ambulance was called to respond.
The man was cited for disorderly conduct and advised not to return to the church.
Star EMS transported the man to Troy Beaumont Hospital for medical treatment and an evaluation
Super drunk driver doesn’t make it out of parking lot before crashing
Deputies were dispatched to the Kroger parking lot in the 400 block of Lapeer Road at 4:22 p.m. Dec. 8 for a private property crash.
Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicles and drivers. They spoke with the responsible driver and determined that she had been drinking. Her face was flush with bloodshot watery eyes. While talking to deputies, the woman admitted to drinking.
Deputies administered sobriety tests which the driver failed. A PBT was administered with the results of .18 BAC.
The driver was transported to the Oakland County Jail.
Orion Township Fire Department
The Orion Township Fire Department responded to 45 calls for service in the Village of Lake Orion during November.
Of those calls, 32 were medical related, there was one vehicle accident, three fire alarms, two calls for downed wires and seven citizen assists.
There were also final Certificate of Occupancy Inspections at 313 Pizza Bar, 37 E. Flint St.; Anita’s Kitchen, 45. W. Flint St.; Simply Marcella’s, 120 S. Broadway St.; and for the apartments at the four story building at 120 S. Broadway St.
Fire Chief Rob Duke submitted the monthly fire run report to the village council for review and acceptance in the council’s Dec. 9 board packet. — J.N.
