Barbara A. (Chubrick) Thompson, of Lake Orion, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2019. She was 67-years-old.
Barb was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Dan (Daniel L. Thompson). She is the loving mother of Chris (Stacey) Thompson and Danielle (David) Melcher; proud grandmother of Garrett, Tryssa, Everett Thompson, Brady, Benjamin Melcher; treasured daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Chubrick; steadfast sister of Nancy (Mark) Secor, inspiring aunt of Nicholas Secor and Andrea Secor Walker; respectful daughter-in-law of Mary Lou Thompson and the late Leonard Thompson; caring sister-in-law of Debora Miller (Chuck Cowan); fun loving aunt of Tonya (Mike) Cowhy, Joel Miller; blessed sister-in-law of Dale (Christine) Thompson, and the late Douglas Thompson, and many additional nieces and nephews; spirited cousin to Debbie (Ray, Nikki, Carrie/Vince Carozza) Dubin; Jeff (Sue) Weir; Tammy (James, Nathan, Daniel) Speir; Dan (Jared, Luke) Pingitore; loyal friend of Angel Tedesco.
Barb thrived on the challenge of working in the world of radio advertising for over 30 years. A long time friend was quoted as saying, “If only one word could be used to describe Barb’s career in broadcasting and radio sales it would be passionate”. She took great pride in coordinating the needs of her clients with the best suited options of time and demographics for listeners. During her employment, she was responsible for representing the power and strengths of a variety of music stations being quick to realize the importance of listening to her clients and working tirelessly to develop lasting relationships. In the competitive world of sales, this nurtured a powerful respect, often causing clients to personally request Barb to coordinate and represent their marketing needs.
Barb was extremely creative and had a focus, commitment, and an energy that supported her visions. Her hobbies included traveling the world, reading, antiquing, refinishing furniture, working with flowers, designing jewelry, creating imaginative spaces using interesting colors, textiles, and design, and discovering beautiful art that spoke to her. Barb had a true passion and respect for dogs and welcomed many to her family and home over the years.
Barb was intuitive, forthright, sincere, and felt deeply that words should be meaningful and true. She was incredibly proud of her family and modeled the importance of unconditional love and a strong work ethic. Her strength of spirit during celebrations and challenges empowered others by example. Anyone that had the opportunity to know Barb throughout her life experienced her loyal, thoughtful, loving, creative, and vibrant nature while having true opportunities to learn from her many strengths. Realizing the rich and genuine impact Barb has had, and will continue to have, on each and every one of us is a precious gift. She will forever live in our hearts.
A private Interment service will take place at Square Lake Cemetery.
