Goodrich-When school starts this fall Sue Giegling admits she’ll miss students and staff.
She will not, however, miss Michigan winters.
‘We’re moving to Chary, North Carolina,? said Giegling, who at the Monday night school board meeting was honored for more than 22 years in the district. ‘We have family there and it’s just really time to move on from Goodrich.?
A 1974 Kearsley High School graduate, Giegling and husband Mark moved to the area in 1986. Her first job in the district was at Reid Elementary in 1993 as a playground helper before working as a Title I math instructor. She moved to Oaktree Elementary when it first opened and supervised the computer lab and later worked as a special education paraprofessional.
‘The best part of the job has always been the students,? she said. ‘I just loved watching them grow up and helping them achieve their educational goals. I’ve made many great friends in Goodrich? it’s such a big family-like place.?
Sue and Mark have been married 40 years and raised three sons, all GHS graduates’Ryan and Jeff in 1998 while Brandon completed his studies in 2003.
‘I’m not going to be able to come back too often,? she added. ‘I’ve just been so fortunate to have such a great community to raise our family in and a wonderful district.?
