Brandon Twp.- The school board unanimously appointed Diane Salter as the newest board member during their Aug. 20 meeting.
‘I’m very honored that they appointed me,? said Salter, one of three candidates who applied for the position left open by Debbie Schummer’s move from the district. ‘I feel l have a lot of catching up to do. I will be soaking in a lot of things to gain knowledge of what is going on in the district.?
Salter has worked for the Troy Police Department for the past 25 years and is currently a sergeant assigned to the operations-patrol division as a supervisor. She has a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University. Salter is married to Scott and is the mother of Jacob, 16, and Ella, 15, both Brandon High School students.
‘It’s good to have a seventh member back and she will add a lot of experience,? said Superintendent Lorrie McMahon. ‘She has a strong interest in a good education for our students.?
Salter, a 16-year district resident, will be the only candidate running on the November ballot to complete a 2-year term vacated by Rob Privette, who moved out of the district last year.
