Brandon Twp.- Diane Zedan has been named the new special education director in the district, as well as the principal of Brandon Alternative High School.
Zedan, a Grosse Pointe reisdent, has 18 years of experience as a special education director in four different districts, and 16 years experience as a special education administrator, including 10 years in the Romeo School District, three years in the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, and the last three years in the River Rouge School District as the special services director.
‘I am looking forward to a new role as the principal of a building and program and helping to make gains in student achievement,? said Zedan. ‘I want to meet the needs of the students in both the alternative program as well as the special education program and increase achievement in all areas. I believe in looking at students as individuals so they can grow to their greatest potential.?
Zedan has a bachelor’s degree from Marygrove College, a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and earned her education specialist degree from Wayne State University. She has also completed ASD coursework at Grand Valley State University.
Superintendent Lorrie McMahon noted that Zedan’s new position in Brandon is a tough one, covering a broad spectrum of ages and abilities from preschool through high school and even beyond with some students.
‘We looked for someone with a lot of experience and talent and we think we’ve found that in Diane,? she said.
