Munk Orthodontics is known for cutting edge technology. They continue this tradition with the new Insignia? Advanced Smile Design?.
“We are very excited about it,” said Dr. Charles W. Munk. ‘Like fingerprints, every patient’s smile is unique. With Insignia?, we can utilize a computerized system that combines digital treatment planning with specially made brackets and wires to specifically target each patient’s individual dental anatomy.?
The process begins with an initial examination and an impression of the teeth. Imaging software creates a 3-D view of the bite and prescribe the exact braces and wires needed for treatment.
“It allows us to develop and control every tooth movement, every brace and every wire,” Dr. Munk explained, adding each aspect is precisely calculated for the most optimal tooth movement.
Until recently, the best option was to create a custom wire several months after braces were placed. Now, they can create robotically made braces and wires before treatment begins.
“Insignia? provides us with another tool to gain a more predictable, more efficient and effective approach to orthodontic treatment,” Dr. Munk added. “We continue to invest in technology and education to bring the very best care to our community.?
Munk Orthodontics is already researching digital scanners. Use of a digital scanner could eliminate the need for impressions making the entire Insignia? process even easier for patients.
‘Any time we can incorporate technology to improve a patient’s experience at Munk Orthodontics, we are happy to do so.?
