Players took their position on one of the softball fields at Clintonwood Park last Wednesday for another sunny game.
Teams made of players ages 50 and up meet every Monday and Wednesday for their league games.
Though the teams are set right now, pick ups are in the fall for anyone interested, said Alan Bartley, league director for the John Thomas Senior Softball League.
“We have a good mixture of people,” he said, adding the experience and athleticism ranges from average to grand slam with players hitting over the fence.
Playing also helps to stay active and exercise while having fun.
“Staying active keeps you young,” Bartley added.
An advantage to coming out to play during the fall, beginning after Labor Day, is to see where the players will fit during the spring league.
For information, call Independence Township Senior Center at 248-625-8231 and leave a message for Bartley.
He also invites anyone who is interested to stop by a game, played Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
