Jeff Sloney had a gleam in his eye as he quickly moved forward towards Oxford’s Noah Cantera.
Sloney added points to his score against his 130-pound opponent on Dec. 8, and attempted to take Cantera down.
After three sets Sloney settled for a major decision win, 12-4 and took Clarkston’s previous zero on the scoreboard to four points.
The next score came from Matt Vandermeer who scored six points on Ben Ralston in the 171-pound weight class.
The boys finished to Oxford, 54-7.
“We got it handed to us good,” said Clarkston Boys Wrestling Varsity Coach Andy Auten. “They have a great team and should challenge for a state championship. However, we went out there and laid down for them.”
He added he was hopeful the loss taught them they have to work harder. The two wins from his senior All-Staters wasn’t a surprise.
“They did what they are supposed to do,” said Auten.
The boys came back and beat Troy-Athens in their second meet, 72-6.
Scott Devos set the momentum when he took to the mat taking on Steve Toporowski in the 285-pound class.
Devos won with a fall 48 seconds into the first period. Brett Foltz (105) followed scoring on a fall, with his 33 seconds into the match against Nick Holter.
Grapplers also scoring six points from falls were Jake Dionne (119), Marc Bosnack (135), Chris Calvano (160), Matt Vandermeer (189) and AJ Schloff (215).
Nick Vandermeer (140) won with a technical fall, 21-6 score, against Mike Zacovich.

Raymond Wilkie kept Thomas Keyes at bay with a seven points in his 11-4 win in 112-pound class.
Wins by void were from TristenTozzi (145), Jamie Jameson (152), and Michael Henige (171).
The varsity team traveled to Howell for the Wilkinson Classic last Saturday and had six wrestlers place.
Matt Vandermeer took the championship in the 171-pound class.
Taking the runner up places for Clarkston were Sloney (130) and Devos (285).
Mike Henige (160) took third place while Michael Cardinale (125) and Nick Vandermeer (135) finished in sixth place.
