Spikers clinched the championship title during the Grand Blanc Invitational on Saturday.
The Clarkston Junior High School Freshman Volleyball had to take down rivals Lake Orion in the process – which they successfully did.
They lost the first set 25-17 but came back during the next one to win 25-23.
“Torrey Wright came in during key points and helped turn the momentum around by getting accurate passes to our setters,” said Coach Daneen Kincaid. “Liberos Rachel Alli and Lexi Baylis were also key players in the back row.”
The girls also beat Lapeer West (25-13, 25-15), Frankenmuth (25-23, 25-18) Divine Child (25-15, 25-16) and split matches with Grand Blanc (25-20, 23-25).
“I was very impressed with the way they played,” said Kincaid. “The girls had some very competitive matches. Everyone contributed to the team victories.”
The girls host Farmington North on Thursday. The game begins at 5:30 p.m. and is at Clarkston Junior High School.
