Wrestlers focus on state finals

Grapplers faced a hard loss after finishing their dual meet at Detroit Catholic Central last Wednesday, 47-16
The Detroit Catholic Central team had already scored 23 points on Clarkston by the time Ty Foltz stepped onto the mat.
He quickly went into action taking on Charlie Joseph in the 135-pound weight class. Once Foltz got into position he took Joseph down with 25 seconds remaining in the first period.
Matt Deitz was next on the mat and won by decision against Justin Melick, 2-0.
‘They both beat ranked wrestlers,? said Wrestling Varsity Head Coach Joe DeGain. ‘They wrestled very well to do so.?
Evan King (160) won his match, 4-3, and Matt Vandermeer (171) won his with a major decision, 10-1.
The boys host a Quad meet on Wednesday and will wrestle Troy-Athens and West Bloomfield.
They head to Waterford-Kettering on Saturday for Macomb/Oakland duals, beginning at 9 a.m.
Grapplers are focusing more on the post-season as District Finals for the team and for the individuals are just around the corner. They are using the meets to prepare.
