Lady Runners finished in third place as their final standing in the OAA Red league after last week’s league meet at Bloomer Park.
Troy won the league championship and Lake Orion took second.
Natalie Smith finished in fifth place during the meet at 18:53.
As a team they finished in seventh with 166 points in the last league meet in the season.
‘Some of our runners were out with the flu so we didn’t fill our top seven,? said Assistant Coach Matt Klaver. ‘We did pretty good. Natalie Smith and Mende Gleiss ran a great race.?
Birmingham Seaholm finished in first, Troy and Rochester Adams rounded out the top three.
The girls compete in regionals this Saturday at Springfield Oaks to place for states.
‘We are really excited about Saturday,? said Klaver. ‘Hopefully everyone will run their best and make it to the state meet. We are hoping to have a good showing at regionals.?
Klaver said the team is prepared to see a lot of good school at regionals.
‘Everyone will have to be running the best race of the year,? he added. ‘We are in a really tough region. A lot of teams deserve to go to states and we hope we are one of them.?
At the beginning of the season the team set a tangible goal to go for the regional win.
‘It would get us into the state meet and that was one of our goals,? said Coach Mike Franko. ‘And finishing as high as we can in the state meet.?
They run at 10 a.m.
‘Everyone is healthy. We ran great on Sunday, we are ready to go,? said Klaver.
