The Oxford Junior Golf League completed another successful summer league as they wrapped up play on Friday, Aug 7.
Sixty golfers ranging from 10 to 15-years-olds competed over the last two months for the top spot in three flight divisions.
Oxford Hills Golf and Country Club owner Bob Hubbard spoke highly of the league. ‘It’s an opportunity for the kids to come out and play some competitive golf,? he said.
Aaron Chapie, son of Mike and Julie Chapie from Washington Twp., took home the top honors in the first flight division. This was his first time playing in the golf league at Oxford Hills.
‘I just like playing golf,? he said.
Lake Orion’s Ted Rydquist, son of Rob and Debbie Rydquist, claimed the top spot in the second flight division.
He said that he enjoyed getting up early to come and play golf.
Oxford’s Brian and Debbie Woloszyk’s son, Zack, finished first in the third flight.
‘I like improving my score,? Zack said.
Harry Hogan, who has run the golf league for nearly 20 years, was thrilled how well the league has turned out.
‘The kids have fun and they always want to come back. There is always a wait on the list to come and play.
