Boys’ golf season ends at regionals

Dragon golf Coach Monty Gallaher hoped his team would be one of the six qualifiers for the regional tournament which was held May 28.
‘We should be able to qualify out of districts if we play our game,? he said before the tournament. ‘It will be difficult to make it to the state finals as only 3 teams advance from the regional.?
But the boys didn’t make it past regionals. They narrowly lost to Stoney Creek, 168-164.
Grand Blanc came in first place, followed by Adams and Saginaw Heritage. The three teams will move on to the state competition.
As the regular season round the last bend, Dragon’s play improved, according to Gallaher.
‘We have been playing better as of late,? he said.
The team ended its season with a win against the Wolves, May 19, and 4-2 in Oakland Activities Association league play.
The boys defeated Clarkston at Boulder Pointe, 165-156.
The nine-stroke victory was lead by senior captain, Cameron Beeler, as he posted a one under par 35.?
‘The other scores that counted for the Dragons were senior Kyle Wesley, junior Paul Couretas, and sophomore Alex Haddad,? said Gallaher.
The boys shot 158 and won at Forest Lake against Lahser, May 18.?
The previous week, they tied for 10th in the Oakland County tournament.? Cameron Beeler was 3rd overall in the county with a 73 and Kyle Wesley tied for 5th with a 74.?
