Community-wide open house May 17

Every month, School Superintendent Dr. William Skilling sits down with other community leaders to talk about Oxford.
During their talks they come up with ideas for the community and what action to take to improve.
A community-wide open house set for Sunday, May 17 from 1-4 p.m. was one of the ideas they had.
‘The open house is one of our first initiatives,? said Skilling.
Oxford Township, Village of Oxford, Parks and Recreation, Oxford Public Library and Oxford schools are presenting the open house with help from businesses and realtors.
Realtors will place ads during the week of May 11, listing what homes will be open for potential buyers and Oxford Community Schools will mention what schools will be open.
Realtors will also hand out packets to visitors about the community and what Oxford has to offer.
‘Our main focus is to bring families to Oxford,? said Skilling. ‘This is our first, but we hope to do 3-4 a year.?
‘We also want to let businesses know about the open house,? added Skilling. ‘So those that are closed have a chance to think about opening for the day.?
Another strategy the group has worked on is a DVD about Oxford schools.
They are working on another DVD for families and business owners. It will show some of the perks about Oxford, such as the luscious golf courses, the parks and recreation opportunities available to the entire family, the variety of restaurants and shopping in the area.
If you have ideas for the open house or how to create more opportunities for Oxford, please contact Skilling or a community leader.
